Remy Coll
Is an Australian Cyber Security Expert.
Before people started using the word “Cyber” again I spent years as a Systems Engineer, Integrator, and Network Engineer. I mainly worked for The Australian Federal Public Service within a department that acquires, warehouses, and disseminates huge amounts of data (you can probably guess which). I built and ran Identity and Access Management Systems, secure data acquisition pipelines, administered firewalls, ripped things in and of data centres, made a mess of cables, and all the other usual IT madness.
Then people starting saying the word “Cyber” again and I was all in.
I jumped into the full-time Army as a Defensive Cyber Operations Officer and started listening to synthwave (its mandatory when conducting l33t h@x). Ran a bunch of missions, spent some time arguing with more senior officers, delivered reports that people hated and loved, and all round did the right thing for the country in cyberspace. Some readers may remember me as the MC of the Cyber Skills Challenge, or simply ‘Gold Jacket Guy’. I still peddle my cyber security expertise for the Military, but on a part-time basis.
I have my own company, Redacted Information Security, which I am a Director & Principal Consultant. You can check us out by clicking here.
Also, I once Rick Roll’d Chief of Army. Seriously ask me about it, I didn’t even get a court martial.
